We are excited to introduce our newest teacher, Damien!
He offers in-home lessons for piano and MUCH MORE in Lewisville, TX, as well as surrounding areas.
EDUCATION & MUSIC BACKGROUND
Damien was always involved with music from a young age. His college experience began with Loyola University, where he played two diverse instruments (clarinet, violin) in the Band and Orchestra, respectively. Before graduating, he performed as a soloist in both groups on tour as well as winning the Orchestral Concerto Competiton. He later enrolled at UNT, where he performed in the Wind Symphony and the UNT Orchestra, the highest ranked ensembles in their College of Music. Damien received his Master’s in Performance at UNT after winning the Concerto Competition with Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet. He returned to UNT as a doctoral candidate, and again won their Orchestral Competition, this time with Rossini’s Theme and Variations. Through both enrollments, he maintained the principal clarinet position in the UNT Orchestra. His musical involvements are as impressive as they are broad, including the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.

TEACHING BACKGROUND
Damien’s teaching experience spans the past three decades, starting with piano years ago in New Orleans. He taught violin with Saturday Strings New Orleans as well in the late 1990s. Before hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, he developed a band at St. Anthony School, New Orleans, which grew exponentially from his initial year with the school. After leaving New Orleans for North Texas, Damien taught privately, helping students achieve goals such as making Texas All State Band and Texas Region Orchestra. More recently, he has used his talents to build an online clientele, and continues to give online music recitals.

PERSONALITY/TEACHING STYLE
By paying attention to their skill and interest level, Damien values making sure the student gets traction with what they’re learning. Never one to waste time, he addresses problems as they occur and really tries to attack the fundamentals of music. His philosophy is that tone is everything. If the tone is solid, then people will definitely want to hear you. He also wants every student to work on music they love to play. Some of the lesson will focus on any popular music or classical music that is on the student’s wish list. Of course the balance is to also work on fundamentals and to relate the wish list to the fundamentals so that maximum learning begins.
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT DAMIEN
